SOCIAL OUTREACH

A huge part of my story has been Honduras. I grew up and lived in there for the better part of my life. I find that when I first meet people they would never guess that English is my second language, that I didn’t grow up in the states and that I am what you would call a third culture kid. My story begins with my parents, two bright eyed college graduates ready to take on the world. My mom is from Honduras and my dad is from a very small town in Indiana; they met in college and fell in love… cue the music, the adventure begins.

They didn’t really have a plan. They had odd jobs here and there, a few failed businesses later they got a call from a college friend. He was bringing down a sports team and wasn’t sure where they would be staying. They needed a clean, affordable, and safe place to stay; three things that were not synonymous to Honduras. Then the idea came to them, why couldn’t they provide what the team was looking for and more. From that idea the Humuya Inn was conceived. So many of my favorite childhood memories involve the hotel; translating for teams, playing different sports, and getting to travel all over the country!

For the last 24 years the Humuya Inn has housed over 600 mission’s teams, been a safe haven and partner in the adoption of over 200 kids and supported the local economy by providing sustainable jobs. I am so proud of the legacy that my parents have created and can’t wait for what the future holds.

When my family moved to the States I decided that I still wanted to be involved in the future of Honduras even if I didn’t live there anymore. That’s when we created Inspirata Foundation is a family run foundation that provides specific and targeted assistance to furthering the health, education, and well-being of the children of Honduras.

AS A FAMILY OUR LOVE FOR SPORTS HAS ALLOWED US TO PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION, TRAVEL EXPERIENCE NEW THINGS, AND BROADENED OUR VIEW OF THE WORLD. WE WANT OTHER YOUNG CHILDREN TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THOSE SAME OPPORTUNITIES AND THAT’S WHY WE CREATED INSPIRATA!

MY FAMILY HAS BEEN A PART OF POINT FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. THEY HAVE 4 FEEDING CENTERS IN THE POOREST, MOST DANGEROUS NEIGHBORHOODS IN TEGUCIGALPA. THEY SUPPLEMENT THE PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL, EMOTIONAL, EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL NEEDS OF 755 CHILDREN DAILY

AS A FAMILY WE BELIEVE PROVIDING JOBS IS CRUCIAL TO HONDURAS’ SUCCESS. WE MUST HELP THE HONDURAN PEOPLE GET EDUCATION SO THAT THEY CAN CREATE BUSINESSES THAT ARE SUSTAINABLE. WHICH IN TURN WIL CREATE JOBS AND OPPORTUNITIES CREATING A SUSTAINABLE CYCLE THAT THERE WASN’T BEFORE
